On Thursday, February 8, members of the MIT Community and alumni were treated to a lecture by 2023 Nobel Laureate Professor Moungi Bawendi.

On Thursday, February 8, members of the MIT community packed Huntington Hall (10-250) to capacity to hear Moungi Bawendi, the Lester Wolfe Professor of Chemistry and a 2023 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, deliver a lecture on quantum dots, the discovery for which he was named a co-recipient of the Nobel Prize. As MIT staff, postdocs, faculty, students, local alumni, and friends packed into the aisles of Huntington Hall, programs, stickers, and reusable grocery totes festooned with colorful quantum dots were distributed.

The Department of Chemistry partnered with the MIT Alumni Association to livestream the lecture, titled “A synthesis for quantum dots leads to a nano-world of opportunities”, to over 500 alumni across the globe. The event was a festive celebration of Bawendi’s truly stellar achievements.

Bawendi’s lecture is now available to stream on YouTube.
