Radosevich and Wendlandt receive American Chemical Society National Awards
Professors Alexander T. Radosevich and Alison Wendlandt were named recipients of 2026 Arthur C. Cope Scholar Awards by the American Chemical Society (ACS).
Professor Alexander T. Radosevich and Professor Alison Wendlandt have been named recipients of 2026 Arthur C. Cope Scholar Awards by the American Chemical Society (ACS). Established in 1984 by the ACS Board of Directors and supported by an endowed fund created by former MIT Chemistry Department Head Arthur C. Cope, these awards recognize and encourage excellence in organic chemistry. Cope was a member of the MIT Chemistry faculty from 1945 until his death in 1966, and served as Department Head from 1945 to 1965.
Radosevich earned his B.S. from the University of Notre Dame and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT with Professor Daniel G. Nocera, he joined the faculty at Pennsylvania State University before returning to MIT Chemistry in 2016. He earned tenure in 2021 and was promoted to full professor in 2023. Research in the Radosevich Group focuses on the invention of new homogeneous catalysts and reagents based on inexpensive, earth-abundant elements of the p-block.
Wendlandt received her B.S. from the University of Chicago, her M.S. from Yale University, and her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University, she joined the MIT Chemistry faculty in 2018 and earned tenure in 2024. Research in the Wendlandt Group centers on the development of selective, catalytic reactions using the tools of organic and organometallic synthesis as well as physical organic chemistry.
The ACS National Awards program supports the advancement of chemistry across all branches, promotes research, and fosters the careers of chemists.
