Oleta Johnson to Join the Chemistry Faculty

Dr. Johnson earned her BS from FAMU, and her PhD from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Oleta Johnson, currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, will join the Department of Chemistry as an Assistant Professor as of August 1, 2023.

Johnson earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in 2013, and her PhD from University of Michigan in 2018. In November 2018, Johnson began her postdoctoral research in Professor Jason Gestwicki’s lab at the University of California, San Francisco.

The Johnson Laboratory uses chemical and biophysical tools to understand and tune the activity of molecular chaperone proteins in protein misfolding diseases.
