Categories: Alumni

Mota (SB '08) is currently Director of Global Supply Chain and Manufacturing at Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical.

Department of Chemistry alum Guadalupe Hayes-Mota (SB ’08) has been selected as one of 2020’s 100 Most Inspiring People in the Life Science Industry by PharmaVOICE. As Director of Global Supply Chain and Manufacturing for Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical, Mota “works to create compassionate care programs to provide medicinal products to patients on humanitarian grounds, increasing the access of medicines to patients who need them.”

The PharmaVOICE 100 was launched in 2005 as a means to celebrate individuals throughout the life-sciences industry who provide inspiration to their peers, colleagues, and companies through their innovative and motivational approaches to addressing the industry’s myriad challenges.

“Being named 100 Most Inspiring People in the life science industry by PharmaVOICE is very humbling,” said Mota. “I am touched that my story and the work I do for patients globally moves people.  Never would I have imagined that I, a person with a rare bleeding disorder growing up without much access to medicine in Mexico, one day would be leading the global medicine supply and manufacturing for patients that need it.”

Among his many affiliations, Mota is the President and Chair of the MIT LGBTQ+ Alumni Association.
