Daniel L.M. Suess Promoted to Full Professor
Suess’ promotion will go into effect on July 1, 2026.
Professor Daniel L.M. Suess, currently the Arthur Amos Noyes Associate Professor of Chemistry and Associate Department Head for Education, has been promoted to Full Professor, effective July 1, 2026.
Suess earned Bachelors degrees in chemistry and English from Williams College before obtaining his PhD in inorganic chemistry from Caltech. Following postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Professor R. David Britt at the University of California, Davis, Suess joined the MIT Chemistry faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2017 and earned tenure in 2024. He is the recipient of many prestigious honors, including a Sloan Research Fellowship (2022), the Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award (2022), and the ACS Inorganic Chemistry Lectureship (2024).
The core objective of the Suess Lab is to understand the molecular chemistry that underlies global biogeochemical cycles, with the ultimate goal of leveraging this knowledge to improve human health and positively impact the environment.
