Arup Chakraborty wins Max Delbrück Prize in Biological Physics

This significant award from the American Physical Society recognizes and encourages outstanding achievement in biological physics research.

Institute Professor Arup K. Chakraborty was recently honored with the 2023 Max Delbrück Prize in Biological Physics by the American Physical Society (APS). This award is APS’ most significant prize for Biological Physics, recognizing and encouraging outstanding achievement in biological physics research.

Chakraborty earned the prize “for the leading role in initiating the field of computational immunology, aimed at applying approaches from physical sciences and engineering to unravel the mechanistic underpinnings of the adaptive immune response to pathogens, and to harness this understanding to help design vaccines and therapy.” He and his fellow recipients will be recognized at several APS meetings next year.

The central focus of the Chakraborty Group is to understand the mechanistic underpinnings of the adaptive immune response to pathogens, and harness this understanding to help design better vaccines and therapies.
