Stephen L. Buchwald to receive 2024 MIT Departmental Advising Excellence Award
This award is given in recognition of Buchwald's dedication to supporting students and his exceptional skills in advising.
The MIT Undergraduate Advising Center Awards Committee has chosen Stephen L. Buchwald, the Camille Dreyfus Professor of Chemistry, as the recipient of the Departmental Advising Excellence Award.
The Departmental Advising Excellence Award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate outstanding dedication and support in advising upper-level students in their department. Recipients of this award exhibit a profound commitment to fostering student success and providing invaluable guidance within their respective academic department at MIT, through their advisor role. This award celebrates the advisor’s pivotal role in shaping the educational experience and nurturing the academic growth of students at the Institute.
“In recognition of [Buchwald’s] remarkable dedication to supporting students and his exceptional skills in advising, this accolade is truly well-deserved,” stated the Undergraduate Advising Center Awards Committee. “[Buchwald’s] commitment to guiding and supporting students through their academic journey has not gone unnoticed.”
Vice Chancellor Ian Waitz and the Undergraduate Advising Center will honor Buchwald and the other award recipients later this spring at the Undergraduate Advising Center Awards Ceremony.
Research in the Buchwald group combines elements of organic synthesis, physical organic chemistry, and organometallic chemistry to devise catalytic processes of use in solving problems of fundamental importance.
