Novartis Associate Professor of Chemistry Robert J. Gilliard, Jr. has been appointed as an associate editor for the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), effective January 1, 2025. Established in 1879, the Journal of the American Chemical Society is the flagship journal of the American Chemical Society, which has a broad readership across all fields of chemical science.
Gilliard has served on the editorial advisory board for the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Communications, Chem Catalysis, Chemical Science, ChemistryEurope, and Angewandte Chemie. In addition, he has guest edited special issues on various aspects of main-group chemistry for Chemical Communications and Organometallics. The Gilliard Group specializes in main group element coordination chemistry and the design of luminescent hybrid inorganic-organic materials.
Gilliard joins past and current distinguished MIT chemistry faculty members who have severed as journal editors, including professors Danna Freedman and Mei Hong, who are also editors at JACS.
