Professor Danna Freedman, currently a faculty member at Northwestern University, will join the department this summer as the Keyes Professor of Chemistry.
Freedman received her A.B. from Harvard University and her Ph.D from the University of California, Berkeley. She conducted postdoctoral research at MIT with Professor Daniel G. Nocera before joining the faculty at Northwestern as an Assistant Professor in 2012. Freedman went on to be promoted to Associate Professor in 2018, and full Professor in 2020. The Department of Chemistry is thrilled to welcome her to its faculty.
The Freedman Group applies the atomistic control inherent to synthetic chemistry to address fundamental questions in physics. Within this paradigm, the group is creating the next generation of materials for quantum information and harnessing high pressure to synthesize new emergent materials.
