In August 2017, Dr. Charles G. Wade, PhD ’65 (V), and his wife Camille M. (Kim) Wade, established the Charles (1965) and Kim Wade Chemistry fund in memory of Professor John S. Waugh, Charles’ PhD advisor, whom he held in high esteem. The fund will be used to support research by undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Chemistry.
Charles (Chuck) and Kim met at MIT and have long wished to recognize its impact on their careers. Because undergraduate research had helped shape Chuck’s undergraduate career and had remained a professional career focus both in academia (UT Austin) and in industry at IBM Research-Almaden, the Wades felt it appropriate to give a donation to support undergraduate and graduate research. They are delighted to give back to MIT.
