Discover Chemistry: First Year Pre-Orientation Program

Thank you for your interest in becoming a counselor for the Chemistry FPOP!
We are excited to continue our FPOP and introduce Course V to first year students.

Through Discover Chemistry, students will gain exposure to chemistry and related opportunities at MIT and beyond. Together, we’ll introduce students to MIT Chemistry through interactive events and discussions with faculty, students, and alumni. The program highlights chemistry and related research, and introduces incoming first year students to MIT and Boston in a fun and exciting way!

The program will run Tuesday, August 20 – Saturday, August 24. If you are planning to move into a residence hall for Fall 2024, you will be permitted to move in early at no additional cost.

10. FPOP counselors are expected to be available full-time (days and evenings) during the duration of the program. Planning will take place throughout the remainder of the spring term and summer, but student counselors do not need to be on campus during the summer term until the week of August 19. There will be prep sessions the week of August 19 and counselors will need to be available that week. If you need an early return to your residence hall, this will be provided at no cost. However, there is a fee for any students who are granted an early return but do not fulfill their FPOP obligation. (This fee also applies to students who move into housing earlier than their FPOP early arrival date.)
