Robert J. Gilliard, Jr. Promoted to Full Professor
Gilliard's promotion will go into effect on July 1, 2025.
Professor Robert J. Gilliard, Jr., currently the Novartis Associate Professor of Chemistry, has been promoted to Full Professor, effective July 1, 2025.
Gilliard received his B.S. from Clemson University and his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. He pursued his postdoctoral studies as a UNCF-Merck Postdoctoral Fellow and a Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at both the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zürich) and Case Western Reserve University and also served on the faculty of the University of Virginia prior to joining the MIT Chemistry faculty in 2023. Research in the Gilliard Laboratory is multidisciplinary and combines various aspects of organic, inorganic, main-group, and materials chemistry.
