IMPI Student Award winners are selected annually from a pool of high caliber nominees.

Elaine Reichert, a graduate student in Professor Steve Buchwald‘s laboratory, has been awarded the 2021 International Precious Metals Institute (IPMI) Metalor Student Award in recognition of her work. Reichert’s research with the Buchwald Lab focuses on developing new catalysts for palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions.

“I am grateful to IPMI for this award,” said Reichert. “[It] motivates me to continue using powerful transition metal catalysts to pursue synthetic challenges relevant to industry.”

Winners of this prestigious award, consisting of a $5,000 prize, are selected annually from a pool of high caliber nominees and will present their work at the IMPI Annual International Conference.

Research in the Buchwald Group combines elements of organic synthesis, physical organic chemistry and organometallic chemistry to devise catalytic processes of use in solving problems of fundamental importance.
