Brad Pentelute receives 2021 Rao Makineni Lectureship

Categories: Awards, Faculty

This lectureship, given biennially, honors Rao Makineni, a long-time supporter of peptide science, peptide scientists, and the American Peptide Society.

The American Peptide Society has selected Professor Bradley L. Pentelute as the recipient of the 2021 Rao Makineni Lectureship. Presented at the biennial American Peptide Symposium, the Makineni Lectureship recognizes an individual who has made a recent contribution of unusual merit to research in the field of peptide science, and is intended to acknowledge original and singular discoveries rather than cumulative or lifetime contributions.

Established in 2003 by an endowment by PolyPeptide Laboratories and Murray and Zelda Goodman, this lectureship honors Rao Makineni, a long-time supporter of peptide science, peptide scientists, and the American Peptide Society. Professor Ronald T. Raines is a past recipient of this award, having received the 2007 Makineni Lectureship.

The Pentelute Lab develops new protein modification chemistries, adapts nature’s machines for efficient macromolecule delivery into cells, invents flow technologies for rapid biopolymer production, and discovers peptide binders to proteins.
