  • EHS Leadership & Advocacy: I serve as the primary liaison between local research groups and the central EHS office, and act as the Co-Chair of the department’s EHS Safety Committee.
  • Safety Training & Education: I conduct specialized, in-person safety training for all laboratory-based research groups on an annual basis, including safety training for undergraduates and Teaching Fellows.
  • Regulatory Guidance: To ensure everyone stays compliant with Environmental Protection (EPA) and Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) standards, I implement the EHS Management System (EHS-MS), am the Chemical Hygiene Officer, and update the Chemical Hygiene Plan annually.
  • Proactive Laboratory Support: I conduct biannual Level II inspections and oversee hazardous waste management.
  • Emergency & Facilities Coordination: I act as the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and Fire Warden to manage emergency plans and to investigate incidents as they arise.
  • Infrastructure Collaboration: Partnering with Brian Pretti and the Facilities Management Team, I work to ensure the reliability of essential safety equipment, from fume hoods to eye wash stations.
  • Ergonomics & Accessibility: Researchers and staff members can collaborate with me on ergonomic workspace designs and specific accommodation requests.
