This year’s on-campus recruiting for the Department of Chemistry will be done virtually. Once you set up your video conference, I will forward the link to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows/associates in the Department.
If you would like to post a career opportunity with the MIT community, but are not interested in participating in virtual on campus recruiting, we recommend that you visit the Post a Job/Internship site to post your position online through MIT’s Career Advising & Professional Development Office. CAPD has moved to using a platform called Handshake for recruiting and job postings. Handshake reaches a wide network of current students, postdocs, and alumni. If you do not already have an account with Handshake you can create one here.
I am also happy to forward career opportunities to our postdocs and advanced PhD students. If you would like me to distribute a posting, please email Nancy Parkinson.
Please note that the Department of Chemistry is only able to assist and coordinate recruiting for our graduate students and post-docs. If you are interested in recruiting undergraduate students, please contact the Global Education & Career Development Office at gecd@mit.edu.
For Companies
The Department of Chemistry staff are here to assist with: scheduling a visit date, arranging informational sessions, coordinating your jobs postings and schedules through
CareerBridge, and publicizing your visit within the Department. If you are interested, please contact Nancy Parkinson at nparkins@mit.edu to arrange a recruiting visit.
You may find MIT’s Career Advising & Professional Development list of area amenities (parking information, hotels convenient to campus, etc.) helpful when planning your visit: Plan Your Recruiting / Travel to Campus
If you would like to publicize a career opportunity with the MIT community but will not be conducting on-campus recruiting activities, we recommend that you post your position online through MIT’s CareerBridge. CareerBridge postings are visible to the entire MIT community, including current students, post-doctoral fellows and researchers, and alumni. If you are new to using CareerBridge, please go to CAPD’s registration page for new employer contacts. Please note that the CareerBridge website works best in Firefox, Chrome, or Internet Explorer. For assistance with CareerBridge, please email careerbridge@mit.edu. The Department of Chemistry is also happy to distribute this information about PhD employment opportunities with our senior graduate students and post-doctoral researchers. Please send any employment information you would like distributed by email to nparkins@mit.edu.
Please note that the Department of Chemistry is only able to assist and coordinate recruiting for our graduate students and post-docs. If you are interested in recruiting undergraduate students, please contact the Career Advising & Professional Development (CAPD) at capd@mit.edu.
For Students
The Department of Chemistry hosts industrial recruiting events every Fall to assist with the employment needs of graduate students, postdocs, and employers. Traditionally, companies come to our department for a daylong event, that includes an informational session, followed by interviews for specific positions they are recruiting for. We send out a weekly email to all of our senior graduate students and postdocs about upcoming visits and deadlines for applications. All positions are posted through CareerBridge unless otherwise identified.

To be determined.
