Infinite Expansion Awards are given annually by the School of Science to recognize exceptional postdoctoral researchers, instructors, and program scientists.

Mariel Price, a postdoctoral researcher in Professor Jeremiah Johnson‘s group, was named the recipient of a 2025 Infinite Expansion Award from the School of Science. In his nomination of Price, Johnson wrote, “she has made several important research contributions to my group and the field of sustainable polymers, while also establishing herself as a leader and model citizen in our department.”

The School of Science Infinite Expansion Awards are given annually in recognition of  the outstanding contributions of postdoctoral researchers, instructors, and research and program scientists. These contributions can be in the form of direct support for your research program or they can be a service to the MIT community such as mentoring and advising junior colleagues, participating in MIT’s educational programs, or active engagement in the MIT Postdoctoral Association.

“I am really grateful for the effort that MIT puts into recognizing outstanding members of our community and am honored to have been a recipient of this award,” said Price. “I will continue to strive to make contributions that nurture and better the systems we have in place that make the Department of Chemistry a safe, healthy, efficient, and inclusive environment to do world-class research. ”

Infinite Expansion Award recipients received a monetary award and were honored at a celebratory reception hosted by the School of Science.
