I find that there are excellent and helpful resources specifically designed for postdocs, such as the GECD-sponsored seminars and workshops that help postdocs prepare themselves for the next career stage. The Postdoc Association is also a great resource for networking with other MIT postdocs who share similar career goals with you. My appointment at MIT will demonstrate that I am capable of performing research in a rigorous environment. It will definitely strengthen my CV and improve my chances of securing a position in almost any field, given MIT’s strong reputation to produce successful chemists.
