Brett McGuire Promoted to Associate Professor without Tenure

McGuire's promotion will go into effect on July 1, 2025.

Professor Brett McGuire, currently the Class of 1943 Assistant Professor of Chemistry, has been promoted to Associate Professor without Tenure, effective July 1, 2025.

McGuire received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne, his M.S. in Physical Chemistry from Emory University, and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology. Following postdoctoral fellowships at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and NASA, he joined the MIT Chemistry faculty in 2020. Research in the McGuire Group uses the tools of physical chemistry, molecular spectroscopy, and observational astrophysics to understand how the chemical ingredients for life evolve with and help shape the formation of stars and planets.
