The Chemistry Department is thrilled to offer a wellness program supported by the School of Science’s Quality of Life grant. While these programs are primarily geared toward graduate students, all members of the Chemistry Department (students, staff, postdocs, and faculty) are welcome to join.
We are always looking for ways to make the program even better and more reflective of your interests! Please provide your feedback around future and current wellness program offerings through the survey here so that we can continue to make the wellness program even better in the future.
Our current offerings include:
Wellness Coloring & Crafting:
When: Thursdays at noon
Where: Amdur Room 6-233
What: Grad school is a stressful time. Between teaching, research, classes, and thesis work, it can be challenging to make time to relax and take care of yourself. In order to help promote wellbeing and community among our graduate students, the Chemistry Department has established a Coloring and Crafting Wellness program. This program takes place weekly and offers graduate students the opportunity to connect with others and unwind. Coloring and working on other crafts has been proven to be beneficial and can help to lower stress and anxiety. These sessions help to provide an informal space for students to feel connected to one another and the Department and to encourage them to take time for creative activities that contribute to their well-being. We’ll hold these sessions in the Amdur Room (6-233), so join us for some stress relief and fun!
Yoga:
When: Mondays (taught by Erica) and Wednesdays (taught by Katrina) at 6:00 PM
Where: 13-3101
What: Get some fun and restorative movement into your day by joining us for yoga! Erica teaches the Monday classes and Katrina teaches the Wednesday classes most weeks. These classes are open to anyone in the Chemistry Department, and all levels of experience are welcome! Extra yoga mats are available to borrow in the grad lounge (6-203). Please email chem-yoga-admin@mit.edu if you would like to be added to the yoga email list for class reminders and updates.
