Thesis Committees will be composed of the Research Advisor and at least two other MIT faculty members*. Your Thesis Committee chair must be from the MIT Department of Chemistry and in your area of chemistry (chemical biology, inorganic, organic, physical)**. Please list at least four faculty (not including your advisor) that you and your advisor consider appropriate for your committee. Please also indicate which faculty members you would prefer as your Thesis Committee Chair, you should list at least 2.
If you are listing any faculty outside the department, you must contact them before submitting this form to confirm that they are willing to serve on your Thesis Committee and attend all relevant examinations. Please also indicate the faculty's home department if they are not in the Department of Chemistry.
*If you are co-advised your Thesis Committee will have 4 members (both co-advisors, a Thesis Committee chair, and Thesis Committee member).
**If your advisor is not a member of the Department of Chemistry, your Thesis Committee must include at least two other MIT faculty within the Department of Chemistry. As noted above, your Thesis Committee chair must be in your area of chemistry.
