The Department of Chemistry Instrumentation Facility is the shared instrument facility principally serving the Chemistry Department. It is conveniently located in the sub-basement of the Camille Edouard Dreyfus Building on the main MIT campus. The facility maintains state-of-the-art major analytical instruments to primarily support the research programs within the MIT Chemistry Department but is also available to other researchers. Four permanent staff members provide instrument training, maintenance, repair and applications assistance for more than 400 users. The lab houses seven NMR spectrometers, one EPR spectrometer, one high resolution Fourier transform mass spectrometer, a GC-MS, a polarimeter, a MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer, a Q-TOF mass spectrometer, and an FT-IR spectrophotometer.
